The Clarksville Police Department Training Division is responsible for all aspects of training sworn police officers and non sworn personnel. The division’s main responsibility is to prepare officers for their daily responsibilities in the field from the day they are sworn in to the day they retire. The Training Division is required by the State of Tennessee to complete 40 hours of police training for every sworn member annually. This training involves defensive tactics, firearms, driving skills and additional classes based on trends across the country. They are also responsible for preparing new officers for the Law Enforcement Academy and beginning with the Field Training phase. The Training Division is responsible for all Field Training Officers, Reserve Officers, DARE and the Citizen’s Police Academy. They are in charge of maintaining the weapons inventory and have trained personnel to repair them. They also arrange all in house and outsourced training to include all travel arrangements and expenses
