The Professional Integrity Unit
The Professional Integrity Unit works under the supervision of the Chief of Police.
We are responsible for ensuring police department members conduct themselves in an ethical
and professional manner. Our goal is to conduct investigations that are fair and impartial,
while simultaneously confirming that any discipline toward an employee is administered in a
consistent manner, in compliance with employee case law, departmental policy, city code and
city personnel policy.
The Professional Integrity Unit is also tasked with recruiting and hiring of police officers.
We attend local job fairs and manage all phases of the hiring process including: physical agility test,
written exam, oral review board, background investigation, command staff interview, chief’s
interview and compiling any other required P.O.S.T documentation.
The Professional Integrity Unit coordinates and administers testing for all non-rank positions
within the department.
We are responsible for maintaining all disciplinary files, assisting both the city attorney,
and contract attorneys, with any civil litigation against the police department.
