Medal of Valor to Officer Alexander Koziol
Officer Alexander Koziol and Chief Ansley
On the 15 th of January 2008, Officer Koziol, along with other members from his shift, responded to a bank robbery in progress at F&M Bank located at 2601 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. It was soon discovered that the blue van fleeing the scene was being driven by a hostage that the bank robbery suspect had abducted. Officer Koziol and other officers stopped the fleeing vehicle in the road way next to Wal-Mart located at 3050 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. As Officer Koziol approached and challenged the robbery suspect in the van, he encountered a life threatening situation and was forced to save the life of the hostage and himself by making a split-second decision in a highly volatile situation. Officer Koziol’s actions during this entire stressful event are without question and are considered extremely valorous. He placed his own safety at risk to protect the life of another. Officer Koziol is a hero among heroes. His actions bring great credit upon himself, his family, and the Clarksville Police Department.
