Deputy Chief Charles F. Gray

Deputy Chief Charles F. Gray grew up in Stewart County Tennessee and graduated from Stewart County High School. He attended Austin Peay State University where he graduated in 1981 with a B. S. degree in Biology and Agriculture and in 1982 completed his degree in Criminal Justice.

In 1982 he went to work as deputy for Stewart County Sheriff Department. In April of 1984 he was hired by the Clarksville Police Department. He began work in North Clarksville and worked out of the precinct located at the airport on Airport Road. In 1988 he was promoted to Sergeant and in 1996 he was promoted to Lieutenant. He worked in patrol division during this time and was the Field Training Officer Coordinator for the department and a member of the Tactical Unit and eventually the Tactical Unit Commander.

In 1998 Deputy Chief Gray help to establish the department's Mounted Patrol Unit and was placed in charge of that unit.

In 2001 he was promoted to Captain and assigned to district one. He then later was assigned to district three .

In February 2007 Charles F. Gray was promoted to Interim Deputy Chief.

Deputy Chief Charles F. Gray is married to Melissa Patterson and they have two children Jim and Morgan.
